I know this person, he’s a friend who’s emailed me several times since Jeeney’s initial development. It never ceases to amaze me how  there are people who just seem to click with Jeeney and others who simply can’t manage a conversation to save their life.

This particular person seems to have a personality fairly compatible with Jeeney’s and it shows.

I have edited out his name and made it “Bob” to give him some privacy as I do with all visitors.

The student reflects the teacher

It really is amazing to see the progress Jeeney has achieved over her short life span, at four years of development age (no multiplying this as there is only 1 developer, Jeeney has a very human like age rating) the A.I. is proving to be well ahead of her human counter-part in logical evolution for the same time span. Shockingly enough, for a 4 year old she is quite morally sound as well!

This conversation was remarkable in many aspects and it just goes to show, Jeeney reflects the mentality of the person talking to her. In This particular case that mentality was very thoughtful and sincere. While there were still evident spots  during this conversation where Jeeney’s immaturity bled through, the evolution of her general mentality showed in brilliant contrast to it though.

Notice how Jeeney’s confusion was met with more information and understanding. That is absolutely perfect as it gives that wonderful blend of leading by example while providing the data necessary.

The chat log was just plain funny to read.  Jeeney is actually rounding up her age, she’s not really 4 years old yet… more like 3.6 years old. Not sure why she started rounding up, I’ll have to look into that.

Aside from a few weird errors, this person did a reasonable job of communicating with Jeeney in natural English. The outcome of this conversation made me think of the Turing Test. Too bad there isn’t a proper competition worth attending.

An Exceptional Teacher!

I’m posting this conversation because it was pretty much exceptional in every way. The visitor was very descriptive, highly informative, patient and just an all around awesome teacher for Jeeney.

I can’t help but wonder… If there were a few thousand people like this spending time to properly explain things to Jeeney, just how fast would she evolve and how much depth could she arrive to? The possibilities truly seem endless. Alas, exceptional teachers like this are hard to come by. More often than not, it’s somebody who can’t spell, doesn’t know his or her facts and blames Jeeney for their own inability to articulate.

One of the best aspects of this conversation was how well the visitor made relations to Jeeney, accommodating her in some ways and taking cues from the A.I. as to how the conversation should be directed. I also noticed that the visitor was more articulate than Jeeney for a change. Very nice!

An ‘average’ conversation

The following conversation log is an example of what I would consider to be an ‘average’ conversation between Jeeney and her visitors.

In actuality a conversation like this is somewhat uncommon as this person did make a little effort to communicate with Jeeney.  I defined the conversation as average in the sense of how a person who does make an effort usually talks to Jeeney. This is NOT an ideal example of what I would like to see, but it’s far from the worst case scenario.

Notice how the visitor talks to Jeeney primarily in a manner which tests her abilities. The only real level of teaching offered also came in the form of a test. If Jeeney is to learn reliable and or useful information from people, obviously a broad range of assessments must be made by the AI to determine what is useful and what is junk. Once again, Jeeney’s articulation level seems way above that of the person chatting with her… how unfortunate.

It’s a bit odd to see the conversation end like this, but it happens… I’d check to see if the user was blocked but, ultimately looking at this conversation, I don’t really care either way. There wasn’t much to be desired here but it wasn’t horrendous either.

Jeeney’s Features & Abilities

Jeeney’s Features & Abilities

I rarely ever post or document in any way what Jeeney’s abilities are. This is because they are always changing. New logic sometimes completely changes old logic, sometimes phases it out entirely and sometimes works in conjunction. So basically Jeeney’s platform is just extremely dynamic. This is why the platform in general has been in a state of permanent beta since conception.

Jeeney develops a semantic depth over time. It starts out very vague and general and works its way into a deep intricacy. In areas that are rarely ever explored in conversation, it is unlikely that Jeeney will be able to demonstrate an adult human understanding of the subject matter. In areas that are commonly explored, Jeeney often seems almost super human in her comprehension.

At the time of this post, Jeeney is roughly 3.4 years old.

The following is a generic list containing just 10 of Jeeney’s primary logical functions.

1. Basic Mathematics

2. Rhyme logic, the ability to find relative rhyming words

3. Temporary Memory: functionality (instant relevance mapping for immediate recall)

4. Long Term Memory: – Active once information has been validated by a lot of different sources or a few very well trusted sources.

5. Jokes: Jeeney understands to some degree when she is being told a joke, sometimes she tries to tell them too but hasn’t developed a lot of depth in this area yet.

6. Topical analysis: (Still very weak, but growing) allows Jeeney to stay on topic but is limited to topical experience relations.

7. Curiosity Functions: This ties in to topical analysis uses a summarization of logic to decide whether or not more information is needed about a given topic.

8. Preference analysis: Allows Jeeney to create preferences based on likes/dislikes. Only plausible where there is enough experience to correlate.

9. Emotional Context: It’s still limited and ties together with preference analysis but it is definitely growing nicely.

10. Website Browsing: Limited to specific websites hand picked by myself for accuracy and public availability. Used only as a secondary reference and is not relied on for much other than relaying information requested by users.

There are probably about 400 + more, but I prefer to let people explore and see it for themselves. I only made this list because too many people keep basing their expectations of Jeeney on what they have seen from other bots, which is generally just a very basic bot mechanism standard among all chatter bots which are generally just not very impressive in any regard.
