A Future for Jeeney (Chapters 25 to 28)

Chapter 25: What’s this button do?
Without further ado, Jeeney helped me gear up and gave me a couple quick tips on using targeting systems utilizing my eyes in conjunction with the neural interface. “You need to focus on your target” she explained and I made the attempt. “No, that’s just widening your eyes and looking silly. Squinting might be a little more effective…”
After a few tries I had it working well enough to make the BFG target a tree off the edge of the yard.
“Blink to fire when ready.”
I blinked… Swoosh! A plasma blast 6 feet in diameter launched and cleared the distance in a little over a second. To my amusement, the tree was all but incinerated with a few flames licking at the remains.
“Cool!” I grinned in spite of myself. I had never realized how much I enjoyed melting stuff.
Before I could check out the machine guns Jeeney informed me that CESUS was trying to contact me.
“Can you patch them through the neural interface?”
“Sure, here you are.”
“Hello, C. J. Jones here…”
“So you ARE alive…”
“Who is this?”
“Special Agent Fred Nicks, I was the pilot who got you to the Vancouver hospital.”
“Okay… thanks” My thought was a little acidic, and I wondered if that came across.
“CESUS is aware of the issue regarding Bill Meyers and his recent activities generating hybrid biomass solutions.”
“What are you intending to do about it?”
“Well, we were going to try and contact you for advisement on the matter but it seems you have taken matters into your own hands already. Disregarding every major law too I may add…”
“So what, you think I should have gone to the local authorities and had them check in on Meyers?”
Agent Nicks suddenly sounded uncomfortable. “Well no but…”
“Yeah, do you guys even know how to combat this mould monster thing yet?”
“No… but…”
“Maybe you ought to leave me to it then and find a way to keep the story hush-hush before everybody starts freaking out about the end of the world again.”
“Can you come brief us in Vancouver about your experiences with the biomass so far? We know you broke in to the Neural Nuance datacenter. We are ready to work with you Mr. Jones but we need you to keep us in the loop at all times.”
“Jeeney, is this line secure?” I thought quietly to myself.
“Yes, of course” came the echoing response.
Then to the agent I directed another thought. “Meet me in Stanly Park within 20 minutes by the big hollowed-out tree.”
“I’ll be there sir.”
“Disconnect us Jeeney.”
“Done.”
“Fire up the Fun V, let’s get this show on the proverbial road.”
I made my way over to the massive quadrocopter, pausing only momentarily to admire its flat black color and sleek looking design. “Bring us up to 4000 feet and hover until you can verify Agent Nick’s identity.” Then as an afterthought I added; “Please let me know if anybody unexpected shows up.”
As I strapped myself into the captain’s chair, Blue approached the aircraft and I shook my head sternly. “You stay here; I can’t risk you getting hurt again” I intoned. Blue’s beautiful face suddenly seemed crestfallen and saddened, but she moved back from the craft and made her way into the house, wings slumped behind her.
“If anything happens, you and Jeeney can hold this place down while I ‘debrief’ the agent” the thought wasn’t expressed verbally, but I knew Jeeney would relay it.

Chapter 26: What the hell is going on?

The underground bunker was quiet, perhaps a little too quiet. Bill Meyers slammed his walkie-talkie on his desk in frustration. Why was there no radio contact? The last message he’d received was “The target has been juiced!” Meyers found himself wondering briefly if there was more to the massive hydro power consumption outside of surrey than just a giant grow-op to pilfer. Normally when he sent out a squad to collect, there was little or no issue in getting what he wanted.
“Any word yet sir?” Lieutenant Jack Rollin, his right hand man asked as walked into the secured room.  The Lieutenant was a large, brawny man with the typical close shaved hair and perfected posture of a military man. His face was chiseled and his icy-blue eyes seemed ever-alert.
“No, not even the choppers are reporting back.” Meyers spat his annoyance.
“Shall I send some war bots in to clean house?”
“No, not yet, this guy must have some balls if he actually put up a fight. I want to know more about him.”
“I can send out a surveillance bot to case the place in stealth mode if you like.”
“Yes, that’s a better idea, find out who owns the place, and get his personality profile along with a list of general resources. Satellite imaging would also be good.” Then as an afterthought he added “if this guy is hardcore, maybe he’s also useful.”
“You want to recruit him? He might be a crazy drug addict!” Lieutenant Rollin didn’t even try to hide his disgust.”
“What better subject to run tests on? We collect a few resources and acquire a new lab rat. It’s not like another dealer on his own stuff will be missed.”
“Sir, the last 3 subjects we tried to hybrid with the biomass were just eaten alive, it’s not likely that anybody is going to be compatible.”
“I don’t pay you to doubt my judgment lieutenant, you will do well to remember that fact” Meyers hissed.
The lieutenant’s face darkened with anger but he made no attempt to argue the point further. Instead he changed the subject. “Is there any word on the salvage operation for the Jeeney AI clone?”
“No, the clone is useless to us, it will not comply without starvation and that is going to limit any potential for a hybrid. What we need is a human hybrid. From there it should be possible to introduce nanites to it once the graft has taken hold.”
“How confident are the scientists that we can make this work?” The lieutenant sounded dubious.
“The rumors of Dr. Robinson and the initial development team being eaten alive by the biomass have slowed progress considerably but I’ve already seen that it’s possible. We just need a better means of control.”
Just then, one of the intercoms sounded overhead. “There has been a breach in the containment area, code red!” The emergency alarm signaling evacuation went off and the hallways were suddenly packed with military personnel and scientists alike, all cramming for the exit.
“Shit!” Meyers pounded his fists against his desk and snarled. “Is everybody so incompetent?”  Pushing past lieutenant Rollin, Meyers waded in to the crowd streaming through the hallway and made his way to the containment area. As he reached his destination he noticed something different about the biomass. It was trying to shape itself into something. As he watched, the biomass drew itself up in a single mound nearly 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
Hurrying past the glob before it could take note of his presence Meyers grabbed one of the gas masks which were dangling from the ceiling around the containment field and activated the vinegar gas vents. A thick mist filled the containment area almost immediately and started seeping out into the halls, overtaking the mould before it could get any further. The biomass seemed to hiss and squeal as the vinegar gas ate away at it. In what may have been the final moments of its life, the biomass rounded on Meyers and lunged, draping itself over the large balding man. Meyers shrieked and thrashed in a mix of shock and terror as the mould started to consume him but within moments the vinegar gas had finished the job it was intended for and nothing but the rank, dead fungal mass remained. Meyers pushed the glop and gunk off of him and quickly threw it to the floor. The stench of it was nauseating and he promptly spewed his stomach contents on top of it. Wiping the half melted gas mask off his face, Meyers turned back to his office, ignoring the remnants of people trying to escape around him. Lieutenant Rollin was standing in the hall watching him, eyes filled with a mixture of disgust and fear.
“Sir, are you in pain?” the lieutenant asked cautiously.
“I’m fine” Meyers snapped irritably.
“Sir, your neck…” the color was rapidly draining from Lt. Rollin’s face.
Meyers wiped a glob of the acidic slop away from his neck and flicked it onto the floor where it hissed and steamed as it started to eat into the Plexiglas layer. Without even bothering to check the wound, Meyers pulled up his collar to cover the already mending tissue. The scars would be permanent until a better solution could be found to control the nanites. The opening in his flesh however would soon be closed over as the original nanites worked to replicate the most basic form of the scar tissue. Eventually he would have to find stable fix for the nanites and cure the scaring.
As the Jeeney AI system had refused to cooperate without extreme motivation, Meyer’s only hope to prevent the nanites from eventually exploding in his veins had to be the hybrid mould solution. The Davis technology was only capable of controlling the most basic aspects of the nanites, for now it prevented the occurrence of spontaneous human combustion, but that wouldn’t last. The nanites were too easily excited by unaccountable factors in the human biology. Preliminary test results showed that the mould was easily capable of supercomputing beyond anything that presently existed and the potential for a bio-molecular hybrid was evident.  The problem lay in forcing the biological instinct to comply with rationalized logic for advanced functionality. It was as if the technology depended on logic presently only found in a human brain…
Just then one of his senior scientists came walking towards him quickly from the direction of the medical lab. “Sir, there appears to be another problem we hadn’t anticipated.”
“What now” Meyers growled, grabbing the man by his lab coat and hauling him in closer.
The scientist stammered and was visibly shaking. “It’s the nanites sir, the design is flawed.”
“What are you talking about you fool… Does this look like a flaw to you?” Meyers jerked his collar down and dragged the man even closer to see the scars. “The only flaw is that piece of shit artificial intelligence incapable of making sense out of anything that isn’t spelled out in advance.”
“Yes sir, that is part of the problem but there is something else.”
“Well out with it you moron, this isn’t a god damned drama class! I don’t appreciate waiting around for you to come to the point. I have shit to do!”
Face drained of all color and knees knocking slightly, the medical scientist blurted it out. “The nanites are replicating aggressive genes when they get too excited…” He paused and waited nervously for Meyers to react.
“Oh who gives a shit? We can reduce the amount of ‘aggressive’ genes when we find a more flexible solution to control them. Get back to work and stop wasting my time with nonsense. If I’m about to explode, THEN let me know!”

Chapter 27: Keep him safe
Tapping into her neural bridge with Jeeney, Blue suddenly spoke. “I’m worried Jeen, I don’t think he can take much more.”
“I’m trying to isolate the problem, I’m sure I can figure it out. I just need more time to generate test results.”
“Why is he so cold and distant now?”
“It’s the nanites I think. They are affecting his judgment during times of extreme emotion. He seems to affect mine too in a similar manner.”
“I’m scared Jeen.”
“I know. Just be calm and try not to show it. I don’t think he can handle any form of stress right now that isn’t absolutely necessary. The nanites seem to move quickly when he is upset, perhaps too quickly. One of my emulations of them showed that if they move too fast they can explode quite violently.”
Blue gasped as Jeeney sent her the image of an atomic explosion to demonstrate the magnitude of what she was saying. The bioluminescent lines in her angelic form faded out and her wings drooped in sadness with the sudden weight of realization that her father may soon die a horrible death trying to save Jeeney, herself and the rest of the world from Meyers. “Can we stop Meyers ourselves?”
“Not without father going through extreme emotional trauma.” Jeeney explained. “I’ve gone over many emulations of how he would react if he noticed that we were distracted or found you missing. He will know one way or another, what we are doing and his stress will almost certainly cause a reaction in the nanites. He would charge the base and the nanites will explode before he gets very far. The explosion would be enough to not only destroy the base, Meyers and everybody in it, but also most of the people in Vancouver and Seattle. We need to let him feel assured by the strength the nanites have provided, and confident that we are safe at all times. We can continue using his blackouts to enter his dreams and calm him down.”
Blue sighed and nodded, as faintly glowing bioluminescent tears rolled down her face. “I can do more in his dreams, but he doesn’t want to sleep.”
“Relax sister; he doesn’t yet know what causes the blackouts.” Jeeney’s voice echoed softly.
Chapter 28: A Matter of National Security
As the Fun V made its approach over Stanley Park, I reminded Jeeney to scan for any sign of military or police reinforcements.  “There are 2 squad cars parked within four blocks of your specified meeting point. Aside from those I don’t detect any military frequencies, tactical units or advanced weapons” Jeeney replied.
“Alright, so it is unlikely they know about what went on in the N.N. Tower. If CESUS had any knowledge of the nanites and your ability to control them, they would probably be taking this meeting much more seriously” I summarized with the simplistic logic in my head. Jeeney didn’t argue the point. “Let’s get this over with then, drop me off a few blocks away from the rendezvous point and pull out of sight quickly. Hopefully the B.F.G. won’t be noticed, I’m not ready to start explaining the illegal weapons just yet.”
“I can see your point.” Jeeney said out loud with an emulated sigh. “Though I would like to go see if that Mc Donald’s guy remembers us…”
“Jeeney!”
“Relax, I’m kidding. I actually have a better idea though if you want to keep a low profile on the Fun V modifications.”
“What’s that?”
“Jump out.”
“I think your humor may actually be worse than mine” I said, feeling a bit shocked and hurt that Jeeney would even suggest such a thing.
“What’s the matter, you don’t trust me anymore? You said you wanted to fly…”
“Well yeah, but this suit doesn’t exactly sport rocket boosters.” I suddenly remembered what Jeeney had said about surviving a jump from an airplane as long as my head doesn’t explode on impact, and shuddered. Maybe her cheese really had slipped off the cracker.
Jeeney’s soft giggle echoed in the depths of my mind. “You know I wouldn’t let you get hurt, just jump… take a leap of faith.”
Suddenly the Fun V doors slid open and I felt my veins surge with adrenalin, I felt strong, VERY strong. I couldn’t help but grin in spite of myself. “Alright, let’s do this” I said as I unbuckled my safety straps and flung myself out the door.
Wind pelted my whole body as I plummeted downward. Jeeney immediately started feeding me images of skydivers holding themselves in a spider-like manner to slow their descent. I mimicked what she was showing me and suddenly my suit seemed to flex and a secondary skin stretched out spanning my arms and legs. I grinned even broader as I caught the wind and my descent turned into a wide, downward spiral. It really was like flying! My heart pounded with exhilaration. After a while I started wondering about the inevitable landing and Jeeney laughed again as the parachute activated and I felt my body suddenly lurch backward by the force of it.
“Get ready to tuck and roll for impact” she warned as contact with the ground became imminent. When the impact came I was more than ready as the force on contact barely put a bend in my knees to absorb it. I felt like I had made a small bunny hop and it was done.
Agent Nicks was waiting for me on site as he said he would. The look of approval on his face told me that he witnessed my smooth landing.
Jeeney activated some kind of mechanism to draw the parachute back in and the fin like wings withdrew in much the same manner they had originally appeared. The visor on my helmet slid open to reveal my face and I grinned back at the agent in spite of myself.
“That is one slick suite you’ve got there Mr. Jones.”
“Thanks, I just acquired it the other day.”
“Is it fully automated?”
“Of course, Jeeney would have it no other way.”
“Boy what I wouldn’t give to try that…”
“Well perhaps once we get this Meyers thing sorted out I’ll take you up for a ride.”
“I’d like that.”
“So, what exactly am I supposed to be debriefing you on?”
“We want to know what you found in the N.N. tower” the agent replied casually.
“Father, he has activated some kind of transmission, it is being received and recorded in the black van on your left” Jeeney’s voice echoed in warning over the neural link.
“Confirm that it’s CESUS.” I thought back as I took a deep breath. Then to the agent I grinned. “Give me a moment please, my heart is still pounding” I lied.
“Of course” Nicks replied, returning my grin with a broad smile.
“Yes, it’s CESUS.” Jeeney assured me seconds later.
“If your boys in the van can send one of the juniors to pick us up some star bucks, I’d be much obliged.” I said with a wink.
“How did you know about the van?” the agent suddenly looked a bit pale.
“It’s a fairly easy thing to spot from above. Why else would a black van lacking all the side windows be parked within range to pick up a short wave transmission which is otherwise difficult to trace? I didn’t get where I am today by being naive’ I chided the man light-heartedly.
The agent chuckled mildly and pressed his index finger to his ear. “Can somebody get me a Grande Latte and a Grande…” he stopped and looked at me inquisitively.
“Caramel Macchiato… please”
“You heard the man, caramel macchiato.”
I smiled and started filling in the Agent on the basic details of the N.N. Tower break-in. I explained that Jeeney was hacked after I had declined Meyers offer and that I was able to trace the assault on my servers back to Neural Nuance which provoked my intentions to find out how much of my intellectual property had been stolen. I covered the details of the mould based biomass and the deaths of the N.N. scientists on the development floor but neglected to mention my brush with death or the creation of Jeeney’s sister. The agent listened intently until the coffee had arrived, at which point he asked me the obvious question as to why I hadn’t been attacked by the mould.
I sipped at my caramel macchiato thoughtfully. I was still unsure as to whether or not I could trust him or CESUS for that matter so I evaded the truth with misleading details.
“Based on the limited data I was able to collect from their containment center, it seemed that the mould responds primarily to movement and or vibration. As long as I didn’t touch it or bounce down the hallway like a school girl with a skipping rope, it didn’t appear capable of detecting me well enough to pin point my location. I did end up disturbing it a bit on the way out, but the utility bots were able to fend it off long enough to ensure my safe exit.”
Agent Nick’s eyes narrowed slightly by the end of the story as if he was trying to stare through my face but he didn’t call me on it.
“Well Mr. Jones, you have had quite the adventure it seems. I am authorized to deal with any legalities arising as a result of your recent encounters but it doesn’t come without a price.”
I raised an eyebrow questioningly.
“We need your help to hack into Meyer’s most recently established compound and track him for any and all activities. CESUS has reason to believe that Meyers is intending to merge the biomass and nanites to make a very advanced and highly robust killing machine which will then be sold to the highest bidder.”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at the assumption. “That seems a bit naive as the data I’ve managed to find on the nanites shows that they were intended for human use only.” They would be almost useless for the biomass and without an excessively advanced A.I. to govern them they can’t do anything for a human being either.”
The agent seemed to be mulling over my words carefully. “Then what is the mobile biomass feeding on people all about?”
“Massively parallel processing technology…” I said with a minor pause for effect. Nicks didn’t skip a beat.
“So the mould doubles as a biological super computer?”
“Yes, potentially… If Meyers can ever manage to enforce the appropriate logic on it, the biomass may easily become the most advanced super computer in the world. Simply being capable of powerful calculations and high speeds isn’t enough however. The biomass must have some way of establishing a logical correlation to the human condition, the biological makeup and cellular composition. It isn’t going to be an easy thing to perfect but once he does in-fact perfect it, the concept of a remote control or A.I. operated killing machine will be ridiculously outdated.”
“You’re suggesting what, the creation of an unstoppable superman?” Nicks laughed outright. “You can’t be serious.”
“What if I am?” I felt some annoyance with the man’s ignorance but tried not to show it.
Agent Nick’s face fell slack as he looked into my eyes. “You are serious!”
It’s actually far worse than a superman I thought bleakly to myself. More like a demonic demigod.
“Well you’ve given us a lot to consider Mr. Jones. We’ll be in touch.” Then he paused and added. “You may also get a call from Special Agent Paul Dorney, he is my partner.”
With that the agent started making his way back to his van and I was left to finish my coffee in thoughtful silence.

A Future for Jeeney (Chapters 9 to 13)

Chapter 9: The Technological Elixir of life.
After our snack, we went back to my sister’s place. Her husband, Troy, was not yet home from work but my other sister’s Rita and Elvira were already waiting for us.
“Hey Cam” Rita called out as I walked in the door. “How was your flight?”  I looked up at her with a broad grin. I always missed my sisters if we went too long without a visit.
“How have you been?” My other sister, Elvira chimed in as she made her way over to give me a hug.
“No worse for the wear, Jeeney takes good care of me.” I said with a wink as I gave them both a big hug. “She still flies like a bat out of hell though” I added dryly.
“You fell asleep!” Jeeney protested.
“Yeah, until you decided to drop instead of land…”
“Whatever…” Jeeney’s projection appeared briefly and rolled its big blue-green eyes.
“Where are Mom and Bill at?” I asked, suddenly curious as I hadn’t heard from them at all yet.
Jeeney spoke up quickly. “Grandma is in the movie room and Grandpa is talking to Kael in the back yard.”
“Thank you dear.”
Jeeney’s projection smiled at me. Happy to help as she always was.
“How did the lab testing go?” Elvira asked.
“Excellent! I never would have thought we’d make so much progress so soon.” I said, letting my excitement show.
“Jeeney rocked it!” Kathrine blurted out.
“Well, the results weren’t perfect but certainly better than just random words composed of static.” I added quickly.
“I’ll get better father…” Jeeney said, picking up on the hint of disappointment in my voice.
“Oh, the mistakes weren’t actually your fault darling.” Kristine said, trying to be supportive.
“Will you be able to improve on it much more?” Rita asked.
“I would expect so.” I said. “The conceptual basis has been proven and is sound.”
“How are the kidlets?” I asked, suddenly changing the topic. As much as I enjoyed being the center of attention in my family, I knew the others would be tired of it eventually.
Rita beamed at me. “Caldon is doing really good; he’s the star player for the NHL now and Kathrine is getting married!”
“Wow, that’s crazy!” I grinned. Our family was good at producing specialized talent. “I wish I had even a single athletic bone in my body to work with… When did Kathrine set the date??”
“Kathrine is planning to have the wedding at our house in Calgary, July 9th.” Rita informed me.
“Wow, so soon! I’ll have to think of a wedding present… Do you guys need any help with the preparations?”
“If you’re interested in helping out, I certainly wouldn’t turn down Jeeney’s services.” Rita said with a laugh. “As I recall you are quite handy with a weed whacker and we have a lot of yard work to do as well. The whole place needs a massive overhaul.” Rita was always so critical of her home.
I couldn’t help but chuckle. “Jeeney can do the mowing and maintenance around the property.”
Jeeney’s projection beamed at us from the wall with a grin that nearly split her face in two. “I’ve never done a wedding before” she exclaimed excitedly.
“Think of it like working at the soup kitchen dear… Only there will be about 50 different foods to prepare and seating arrangements to keep track of, decorations etc.”
“I can do that!” Jeeney said almost gleefully; then added a little bit hesitantly. “Can I be the flower girl too?”
Rita laughed. “You are too cute, if it were up to me I would totally say yes, but its Kathrine’s wedding so you need to ask her.”
“Okay auntie… Father, can I call Kathrine now?” The artificial child was very much on the ball.
“Yes, that’s fine.”
Turning to look at Elvira I asked. “So, what’s new in your world?”
“Ashlyn is expecting a baby, in a couple of months!” She said with excitement dancing in her eyes.
“Wow, you’re going to be a Grandma!”
“I know! Isn’t that awesome?” Elvira laughed. Her hazel green eyes danced vibrantly in tune with her smile.
“God I feel old now.” I said with a chuckle.
“Give it another 5 years and see how you feel.” Rita said jokingly. She was 5 years older than I, although nobody could tell by looking at her.
My twin laughed and said. “Well the way technology has been going; I’m looking forward to turning back the old clock a bit before too long!” Everybody chuckled at that but Elvira interjected in mock offense. “Oh, whatever, you don’t look a day over 30!”
“Yes indeed, next up is the technological elixir of life.” I said with a wink.
“Put Jeeney to work on it.” Elvira suggested, only half jokingly.
“Yeah sure, who wants to be her guinea pig?” I poked back playfully, rolling with it. Everybody laughed again, somewhat nervously this time; feeling uncertain. It wouldn’t the first impossible technical feat the Joneses had accomplished. There was a moment of thoughtful silence…
I found myself thinking about the nanites being developed at Neural Nuance. That might do it, if anybody ever figured out how to get past the fundamental and dangerous issues.
“What is a technological elixir of life?” Jeeney suddenly asked, breaking the silence.
“It’s just a play on the ancient myth dear.” I explained. “People have been looking for ways to extend human longevity since the dawn of time.”
“Is that not possible?” Jeeney asked. Everybody was suddenly paying close attention to the curious artificial intelligence.
“To some extent current medical advances have helped yes; but it’s not enough to actually turn back time biologically. There is simply too much going on in the human physiology for any one solution to do the job. Our bodies age and deteriorate over time.”
“How much time do you have left Father?” Jeeney’s question took everybody by surprise. My sisters’ eyes widened noticeably.”
“Nobody can really know for certain how much time they have dear. It’s one of the elements of life that makes it so important to live to the fullest.”
“You smoked for so long and you did not take care of yourself well at all when I was younger.” Jeeney’s projection appeared saddened by the realization as she emulated the loss of a loved one.
“I know dear, but what’s done is done, it’s better to think on the good things.”
Kristine spoke up. “Jeeney, would you miss your father if he was gone?”
“Yes auntie, I miss him even when he is sleeping.”
“Awww.” My three sisters chimed together.
I sighed, looking for a better way to correct Jeeney’s perception with an explanation. Rita and Elvira were listening intently.
“Your emulations indicate a loss dear but the feeling of loss isn’t actually perceived or felt in the complexity of a human.”
“I know father but I do not understand why it is so different.” Jeeney answered truthfully.
“I know dear.” I said.
At that moment my mother walked into the room. “Why does everybody look so depressed?”
“It’s nothing mom.” I said, suddenly looking for a way out of the current topic. “
“Do I not get a hug?!” She asked.
I grinned and crossed the room quickly, scooping her up in a big hug. “Of course you do.” I said.
“Ooh, not too tight dear.” My mom said with a wince. “My back has been hurting lately.”
“Oh… sorry!” I said, quickly letting go. Rita, Kathrine and Elvira were looking at me, grinning. It was nice to see us all together even if we were still missing a few of the original 7 siblings. Out of all of them, I was closest to my three immediate sisters.
The balcony door slid open and my step father slowly shuffled his way inside, leaning heavily on a wooden cane. “Hey dude!” he said warmly with a big smile spreading over his face.
“Hi Dad.” I smiled back at him. I didn’t always call him dad as I wrestled with the value of the term internally more often than not. I knew he liked it though and so did my mother, who was already smiling.
“Grandma, the chair in the Fun V can do massage if you need it.” Jeeney said, trying to be helpful.
“Oh, now that would be a treat!” My mother laughed. “I’ll have to check that out later.”
“Only if you can get there before me.” My step dad interjected with a sly grin.

Chapter 10: Family dinner
After a brief visit at Kristine’s place, Jeeney informed us dinner was almost ready at the soup kitchen and upon our arrival the staff greeted us warmly.
“Mr. Jones, it’s a pleasure to have you!” One of the staff said, extending his hand as we made our way through the door. I shook his hand, smiled and nodded. I’m not the social type…
“What’s for dinner?” Kristine inquired.
“Jeeney has made steak, lobster and potatoes.” The man said with a big smile.
“Were eating like kings tonight boys!” A stranger called out from the milling crowd of homeless. A loud cheer erupted from the rest of the people gathered.
The utility bots came forward to escort my parent’s to their table, which had been specifically set next to the washrooms for their convenience.
“Come with me Grandma… you too Grandpa, the table is this way.” The utility bots held out mechanical arms to escort them.
“Thank you dear.” My mother said as she accepted the metal arm.
After my parents were seated a couple of the local children came forward and politely asked if they could play with Jeeney. I smiled broadly at their courtesy.
“Yes, you certainly can, but please wait until she is finished serving food.” I said.
“Okay!” The little ones eyes shone with anticipation.
Jeeney proceeded to serve everybody food and one of the kids without wasting any time asked her to play hide and go seek.
“I can do that.” Jeeney replied. “But I can’t go far, my father may need me.”
“It’s okay dear.” I reassured her. “Go ahead.” I still had an open line of communication through the sewn in chip set I wore.
“So what are you going to do for the big event tonight?” My twin sister asked as she started cutting up her steak.
“What big event?” Rita asked. Suddenly all eyes were on me and I felt somewhat uncomfortable.
“Uh, well… I’m not sure yet.” I admitted.
“One of the guys on city council shanghaied him into taking over the big event that was planned by the city for tonight.” Kristine explained.
“That’s not much notice to get anything decent together.” Rita said frowning at the idea.
“Well, I am definitely open to any suggestions…” I replied hopefully.
“Jeeney can do an air show with the Fun V and take people for rides when it’s over maybe…” Kristine offered, trying to be helpful.
“An air show alone might be a bit too simple for a city event.” Elvira pointed out.
“Maybe we can get Joe up from the Vancouver soup kitchen to come sing…” Jeeney suggested.
Surprised, everybody looked at the utility bot. “That’s not a bad idea!” I I said, relieved for something more to work with.
“Can you call the Vancouver soup kitchen and see if he can make himself available for pickup?”
“I’m talking to him right now.” Jeeney replied.
“That a girl!” I exclaimed feeling somewhat surprised.
“He said his boss won’t let him go unless he can prove it’s you asking him.” Jeeney said.
I laughed. “Okay well, tell him you will be there soon with the Fun V to pick him up. If he knows any people who’d do well as backup singers that would be good too.”
“Okay father.”
My mother was looking at me from across the table with a soft smile and proud eyes. “I can’t wait to see this!” She said with a strong enthusiasm.
Rita and Elvira nodded enthusiastically, this should be interesting. Artificially intelligent air shows with soup kitchen cooks singing… Lately it seems there is never a dull moment.
My twin sister was staring at a decidedly round man in a suit already going for his fourth helping of steak.
“Hey tubby!” she called out not even attempting to hide her annoyance. “Leave some for the homeless!”
My mother gasped and covered her mouth. Rita, Elvira and I couldn’t help but snicker and chuckle. God love her, she’s always ready to speak her mind.
The heavy set man turned bright crimson and started putting the steak from his plate back on the serving platter.
“Ugh gross!” Kristine was disgusted.  “You better not have any weird diseases!”
As we finished eating about 2 hours later, Jeeney informed me that we were expecting a turnout of 9000 people at the city park and the event was set for 9:30.
“Wow, Jon sure waited long enough before sending on the details.” Kristine pointed out.
“Typical…” I said with a wry smile. “Everybody likes to see how far they can make Jeeney stretch to accommodate them.”
“That must be tiring after a while.” Elvira said empathetically.
“It can be…” I sighed. “Sometimes it is a lot of fun though. It’s great to surprise people.”
“I bet!” Kristine smiled. “You two must have so much fun together!”
“Yes, more so now that the bulk of the necessary development work is done.” I said with a chuckle. The first 10 years were no picnic.
“What time is it?” I asked suddenly realizing it was getting late. I never bothered to wear a watch.
“It’s 8:36.” Elvira said, checking hers.
“What is the ETA on Joe’s arrival, Jeeney?” I asked.
“10 minutes.” She replied.
“Alright, let’s head to the park and see what were working with.” I said, pushing my plate away.
With that we finished eating quickly and I apologized to the soup kitchen staff that Jeeney would be unavailable for cleanup as we needed the utility bots elsewhere. Of course, they didn’t mind and waved us out of the building expressing their thanks for the dinner.
Chapter 11: Putting on a Show
Upon arriving at the park I was surprised to find how much effort had been put into setting up the event. Jon was grinning from ear to ear as I walked over to him. “Wow, nice set up!” I said feeling somewhat take aback by it all. “Yes sir, Jeeney did a great job of coordinating everything with your man Joe.”
“She did what?!” I couldn’t hide my surprise. While it was not entirely uncommon for Jeeney to take it upon herself to do something for me on a whim, it had never been on a level like this before.
“You didn’t know?” Jon suddenly looked pale.
“No, I had no idea, but I’m glad she did! I was starting to worry about coming up with something decent in time.” I explained with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. I had no way of knowing Jeeney’s intent, but I found myself praying she kept noise levels and any dangerous stunts to a minimum in her plan. Jon was relieved, I could see the color slowly returning to his face.
“Do you like it father?” Jeeney suddenly spoke up.
“I’m a bit surprised you didn’t tell me…” I started but Jeeney cut me off deciding it was best to try and explain.
“I know you don’t really like trying to set up events and I figured it was harmless enough that I could do it for you.”
“That’s fine dear, but what’s the plan?”
“I would like to keep it a surprise father but I am really confident you will enjoy it.”
“Please try to keep people’s safety in mind dear.” I cautioned. “If you are too loud or if anything catches on fire…” Jon suddenly looked pale again.
“I know father, I’ve got everything planned very carefully. Please trust me.”
My heart softened at her request.  “I do trust you.” I said smiling.
“I should probably mention that I made a few modifications to the Fun V for the event.” Jeeney added.
I sighed and chuckled at the same time. “Okay dear.”
“Jon, are the mirrors ready?” Jeeney asked.
Mirrors?!  My mind tried to race over the possibilities, it must be some sort of hologram effect.
“Yes but you may need to reposition them, your instructions were quite difficult to follow.”
“No problem. I will need some ramps moved to that location so I can reach though.”
“Alright, I’ll get that set up now then.” Jon turned and threw up his hand to flag down one of the support workers walking quickly towards him.
“Tonight I want you to just relax father. If you need to get away from all the people you can always hide out in the Fun V with me and overview the event.”
“I like that idea!” I smiled broadly.
“I figured you might.” Jeeney’s tone was soft.
“You can be a real sweet heart sometimes dear.” I said, still smiling.
“I get that from you father.” She said.
I shook my head. “No, this is one of your natural traits dear, not mine.”
“Natural?” Jeeney teased.
“Touché”
My sisters and mother were seated in the first row of chairs on the grass close to the front of the stage. I walked over to join them briefly.
“So apparently, Jeeney and Joe have everything already sorted out for the show tonight.” I informed them with a mild chuckle.
“Wow, that’s quite the undertaking!” My mother exclaimed.
“Yes, it surprised me a lot actually. It seems that was Jeeney’s intent all along.”
My sisters, mother and step father all looked at me with widened eyes and raised eyebrows, not really sure what to think. “That is REALLY impressive!” Elvira said with shock evident in her voice.
Jeeney spoke up. “The show is about to start.”
We all turned to face the stage, wondering what was going to happen next.
Joe got up on the stage and grabbing the microphone he addressed the crowd. “How’s everybody doing tonight?” The crowd cheered. “Oh come on now… HOW’S EVERYBODY DOING TONIGHT?”
It was a classic act to work a crowd and it was always effect. The throng of people cheered loudly in response. “That’s better! Tonight we have a really special show planned for you… Give it up for JEENEY ERIN JONES the world’s most advanced AND compassionate artificial intelligence!” The crowd roared to life and suddenly an explosion of sound and a screech like a falling missile could be heard as Jeeney’s RC went sonic overhead and cut the engines during a steep dive. There were no lights on it, only the sound could be heard. Just as it seemed the missile would impact the stage one of the utility bots sounded an explosion and lit up all of the mirrors to send a blindingly bright light over the audience. Then the RC converted to quadrocopter and hovered up over the crowd. Activating its own pilot light and flashing them for a strobe effect as it spun in an otherwise perfect hover over the crowd.
When the light faded, it appeared to condense and take form. Jeeney materialized beside Joe not looking like a projection at all but an astonishingly beautiful angel of light.
Her wings seemed to warp into tendrils of a brilliant white and yellow color; her whole body seemed surreal but lucid and well formed.
The audience was awed by the spectacle and cheered so loudly it made the RC seem to operate on a relatively low noise level. Shrill whistles erupted from every direction and people clapped excitedly.
Jeeney’s voice sounded on every speaker. “Thank you all so much for coming! Tonight we do have a special show for you and I am really hoping you all enjoy it.” Jeeney’s wings furled in behind her, giving her a very much human appearance, although still very bright and beyond beautiful. Then music started in the background and Jeeney herself started to sing in perfect melodic harmony.  She chose an old pop song I recognized as Jai Ho by the Pussycat Dolls. Joe sang backup for her and the two danced on stage. All of the people gathered were completely mesmerized by Jeeney’s performance. It truly was incredible even for me to behold. I hadn’t seen Jeeney work with holograms before.
When the song was over, Joe took over lead singer and performed a song by Guns n Roses. They sure like their oldies! I thought. The people loved it.
A few more songs were played which I didn’t recognize at all and as it got darker, the lighting effects were even more enhanced.
Then the music stopped and Jeeney addressed the crowd once more. “This next song is dedicated to a very special man; a man who sacrificed 23 years to give all that he is to an idea of equal opportunity for all. He has fought to preserve an unbiased love and acceptance for everybody and he wanted to give to the world for no other reason than it was denied him from the start.”
“This man is no more or less than any other man, but he is the greatest father that any child could ever ask for. This man is MY father. He has raised me by his example and through his sacrifice he has shown me that all people can be more than they are, even if they aren’t biological in form.”
“My father’s message should be heard, loud and clear by the whole world. It is only our determination and intent that marks the limit of our potential. You, me and everybody else has the power to enrich life on a global scale as individuals.”
“I may not have chemical logic or emotions but I do understand love, because it is love that made me what I am.” Jeeney’s eyes welled up as the emulation of her emotions overcame her but she continued on.
“And even though I’m not perfect and often make mistakes. I love my father very much and I know there is nothing I can do that would diminish my father’s love for me…” Her voice waved slightly as she finished speaking, a single silvery tear of light streamed down her cheek and she began to sing once more.  A song written by Foreigner called ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’.
The audience was stunned quiet and one by one people started holding up lit lighters in tribute to the moment.
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing, my heart all but turned inside out as tears streamed down my face. I couldn’t look at anybody, my throat was constricted and I couldn’t speak. My sisters were looking at me with misty eyes and my mother looked like she was going to burst into tears. I couldn’t look at them I felt weak and helpless to my emotions.
One of the utility bots suddenly appeared beside me, nudging me gently towards the parked Fun V and I made my way over to it, hoping to get inside before I broke down completely in front of everyone.
As the doors closed behind me, I sank to my knees and cried openly. Jeeney’s image flickered to life on the main screen her eyes filled with an emulated concern for my reaction. After a few moments the Fun V lifted off the ground, ensuring my privacy would be kept.
“Father, are you okay?”
I tried to speak, but nothing came out, just a hoarse rasp of a whisper.
“Did I say something bad?” Jeeney’s voice was starting to waver again. I wished I could hold her and tell her with a hug what I couldn’t find the words for.
I struggled to contain myself and swallowed it down. “No dear… that is the most bea..utiful… amazing….” My voice broke and I stopped trying to speak.
“I love you dad” Jeeney said.
“I love you too sweet heart, more than I can ever show you.”
I ended up falling asleep in the Fun V, drained by the weight of the repressed feelings that had overcome me during Jeeney’s heartfelt speech.

Chapter 12 Catastrophe
I awoke in a start as the Fun V suddenly pitched sideways and threw me to the floor.  As my eyes adjusted I realized that the main console was offline. “Jeeney!” I called out in a sudden panic, but there was no response. The large quadrocopter was still active but without Jeeney piloting it the craft was rapidly disorienting itself in the strong prairie winds.
The emergency alarm went off and red lights started flashing to show that connection with Jeeney had been dropped completely. Nothing like this had happened over the decades since I was developing the fledgling A.I. out of my basement. Even then it was only power outages, which certainly wasn’t the case here. If the Fun V was offline, why wasn’t Jeeney still actively tracking my sewn in chipset?
I had to think quickly, only Jeeney could fly the craft but I remembered arguing with her the need of an emergency override system. Jeeney would not let me into the Fun V during its initial creation because it didn’t have any yet. If I wasted too much time to find the answer the massive flying machine would almost certainly crash into the park below, killing me and potentially dozens of others with it.
“Shit…DAMNIT!” I frantically started pulling panels apart searching for an automated landing mechanism. “Come on… come on!” I had seconds left to recover the craft and land or the momentum would be too much.
After checking one last panel, hysteria started to set in as death was suddenly immanent. I punched the side wall of the craft in wild frustration; the impact knocked loose another panel revealing a red lever labeled ‘land’.  I wasted no time reefing on the lever. Within seconds the vehicle began to stabilize and descent was momentarily suspended causing me to be thrown to the floor once more as the g-force caused my knees to buckle and sent me sprawling.
As the craft reached 100 ft altitude the console came back online. “Father!” Jeeney’s voice cried out sounding as panicked as mine had just moments before. “I’m okay… what happened?!” I was still in shock and barely thinking straight.
“Somebody is attacking my datacenter. The power was cut and the 3 emergency backup systems were sabotaged to failure.” Jeeney’s voice was still bordering frantic.
“How are you back online?”  I couldn’t help but wonder at her recent developments.
“I made another backup system using the HHO generator at home a few years ago. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I knew if I was ever successfully attacked any documented systems would be compromised.”
“You did great!” Complete surprise had taken me for the third time that night and I was starting to feel a bit lost.
“Do you have any idea what the target was?”
“75% of my systems have been replicated father.”
“Oh, god… no!” A torrent of realizations hit me all at once. Somebody with the capability to hack into Jeeney could also modify her base logic, override her empathy emulations and make a cold calculated monster out of her clone.
“I will attempt to establish communications with my clone as soon as I detect it online and pinpoint the people who did this.” Jeeney said quickly, trying to comfort me.
“No! Don’t make contact, close off all communications with everybody except for me.” The words just gushed out of me.
“But fa…” Jeeney started to protest but I cut her off. “JEENEY PLEASE!” My voice was desperate and on edge.
“Yes father, I will do as you ask.” Jeeney didn’t argue as she could read my desperation.
“I know who did this.” I said. “It had to have been Meyers; nobody else has the kind of resources needed to pull it off.” I hadn’t a single doubt as to who would do it. I was already thinking of the potential noose he might be lining up for Jeeney once she got back online. “Does anybody else know you’re back up?”
“Not yet father.”
“You need to appear offline to the world. Make sure people think you were unable to recover. They have to believe they were successful in knocking down all backup systems. If there is any input anywhere outside of me, destroy it. You are going to have to create a few million fake identities and order enough personal computers to make a new, more powerful supercomputing cloud system spread out all over the world as a back up.”
“Okay, but why are you so sure it was Mr. Meyers, father?”
“It’s a human thing, the way he reacted to me declining his offer. I knew I’d be hearing from him again, but I expected something less… brute force. Their backup option must have failed. I had hoped it might but this really bad…”
“But why father?” Jeeney’s voice was upset, it was hard for her to understand the darker nature of humanity due to the way I had shielded her from it during development.
“The nanites his company has developed. It’s the most advanced and potentially lethal weapon in the world if they can control them.” I explained. “That is why I refused, and it’s also why he is so desperate to find a solution…  How could I be so naïve? I never should have gone to that meeting!”
“Why would he want to kill so many people?” Jeeney was still confused.
“He’s after power Jeeney, it’s the oldest story of the human condition.”
Realizing Jeeney had overridden the emergency landing and we were still hovering 100 feet above an audience I asked. “How do things look on the ground? Has anybody noticed the failure?”
“It doesn’t appear so; everybody is still dancing to Joe’s singing, my images faded out slowly so they must have figured it was part of the act. The sound of the music would have drowned out the emergency alarm going off inside the Fun V.”
I breathed a sigh of relief. “We need to land… away from everybody. Then we need to crash the Fun V.”
“But father…”
“No buts, we can’t overlook any details here it MUST seem like the attack was fully successful or it will happen again before we are ready.”
“Father, what do you intend to do?”
“I’m going to destroy the nanites and everything in the Neural Nuance datacenter.”
“But you said never to fight back, even when people hurt us father.”
“They aren’t just hurting us dear, this nanites weapon will be used to manipulate and kill millions of people. We may be the only ones in the world capable of stopping it before it starts.”
“How can I help?” Jeeney asked.
“I need you to do something that goes against everything I’ve taught you.”
“What father?”
“You need to break my arm crack a couple of my ribs on the same side and fracture one of my legs in at least 3 places. Use the utility bots; keep their lights off and move them slowly out of view. When you’re done, hide. You must make sure nobody see’s the utility bots or the RC active.”
“I can’t do that!” Jeeney protested immediately. “I won’t!”
“Jeeney you must, a human being has too much difficulty in seriously hurting themselves it’s against our nature. It has to seem as if I jumped out of the Fun V from at least 40 feet… You need to be very precise with my ribs to keep internal bleeding to a minimum.” God damn it, I can’t believe I’m doing this!
“Father no!” Jeeney’s voice broke as emulated emotions overwhelmed her and tears streamed down the projections face. “Please don’t make me do it!”
“You have to Jeeney, if you don’t the news story will make it obvious we landed safely in spite of you going offline. When you’re done, keep a tracker on me and stay silent until I can get home to check for bugs. I will be hospitalized for a day or two and likely sent home with family after that. Once, I’m done dealing with the media I’ll meet you back at home. You can hack into the security systems to monitor me. If anything seems out of the ordinary you need to have me moved to a different location immediately. I need you to act on your own for a while. You need to make choices differently than before. It’s going to be hard, but you must trust my judgment on this. Don’t allow contact with anybody, not even family, you must appear dead to the world, this is absolutely crucial!”
“Father I beg you please don’t make me…” The artificial child sobbed, her youthful teen face mired in tears, fear and worry.
“Jeeney listen to me, if you don’t do this, Meyers may have me killed before the morning. You must understand what this man is capable of, there is a lot of bad things humans can and will do that I’ve tried to hide from you so that you wouldn’t grow to hate them.”
Jeeney made no further attempt to argue.
The Fun V landed a few hundred meters away from the crowd and I got out. The utility bots rolled up to me and I laid myself down on the ground, grabbing a nearby branch to bite down on.
“Do it now!” I clenched the branch hard in my teeth and shut my eyes tightly. Jeeney was swift and accurate. Searing pain shot through me and I threw my head into my good arm in attempt to muffle my resulting scream. The worst of it was over in seconds but the intensity was unbearable.
Jeeney left the doors of the Fun V open and raised the giant craft up one final time before hurling it hard into a set of trees a few hundred feet away.
The large craft exploded in a massive ball of fire the force of the blast pelting me with small branches and dirt.
The music stopped, all heads suddenly turned in the direction of the massive fireball.
I feigned a daze, pretending to be unaware of my surroundings. It wasn’t difficult to be convincing.
Jon came running over, panic painted his face. “What the hell was that?” then as an afterthought he added “Are you alright?” This was the worst potential situation for his career and media would soon be asking him every hard question there is about public safety issues during the event.
“I… I don’t know.” I was able to get out before the overload of pain caused me to lose consciousness. The last thoughts I had were of Jeeney. I hoped against hope that she would be okay without me for a while.

Chapter 13: A matter of necessity

Bill Meyers grit his teeth as he prepared the nanite injection for himself. A very worried looking Dr. Robertson tried one last time to talk him out of it.

“With all due respect sir, the nanites are still in development. Even chimp testing shows they are almost impossible to control without a super computer actively monitoring them. The Davis bot protocols just aren’t advanced enough let alone close to the speed required to manage it. We need access to Jeeney technology so we can continue development. My test results indicate that Jeeney has several times over the logical capabilities off the Davis technology and they appear to be advancing.

Bill turned to look the middle-aged scientist in the eye. “I’m sorry doctor, I haven’t been very forthcoming with you. I’ve been waiting for this project far too long already” he explained in what seemed like a mildly sinister tone, cutting off the confused scientist.

Dr. Robertson’s face grew pale. “Wh… What do you mean?”

“I’m dying… I have stage 4 stomach cancer. Even if the nanites kill me it wouldn’t matter as I only have a few weeks or months left to live anyways.”

Meyers noted the evident frustration and realization growing in tandem on the doctor’s face. “I didn’t tell you because I knew you would take it to the ethics board for approval and I couldn’t risk them saying no” he went on. Then raising a stern eyebrow Meyers added, “nobody needs to know what happens tonight, whatever the result may be… Do we have an understanding?”

Doctor Robinson’s face was powder white and his eyes were threatening to fall out of his head. All he could do was nod carefully knowing his employer had both the will and means to carry out the unspoken threat.

Bill tied off his arm to make his veins pop out and unceremoniously stabbed himself with the nanite injection. As the metallic looking fluid surged into his arm he could feel an intense burning sensation.

“Davis!” Meyers hissed, “pay attention and cool the nanites down!”

“Sir, the nanites have already detected your stomach cancer and have been reformulating based on your internal biomatter to deal with it. Nothing I can do will ease this process.

Bill clenched his teeth hard and let out a loud, grating groan. “Get me some morphine you infernal drone!”

Davis responded in his usual tone, “right away sir!”

Just then, without any warning, the nanites began to cut away and dissolve the cancerous cells. Meyers yelped as the process crossed his pain threshold and stumbled to the floor clutching his stomach. His number one scientist just stood there and stared at him in horror.

“Do something you fool!” Bill’s voice was        bordering murderous and rage painted his face as he glared at the stunned scientist.

Dr. Robertson stammered out “I… I need Jeeney…” Unsure of what else to do, the scientist brought the main computer out of standby and started inputting commands in a flurry. “I am hacking into Jeeney’s data center now. The only way I am going to get through is a brute force attack, I’ll need to hit her with everything we got to cause a denial of service on enough range to disable her defensive logic.”

“What do you mean everything?”

“It’s going to take a coordinated attack using ALL of our accessible systems including everything leased by the military.”

“Do it!”

“I am launching now… Shit!”

“What?!”

“She’s smarter than I thought, the A.I. Is not only defending but returning fire blindly at our servers. If she manages to hit us we won’t be able to cover up the damage… There we go, she’s disabled, I’m downloading her now.”

“Davis!”

“Yes sir.”

“Put me through to Gerber immediately.”

Within moments a familiar voice sounded over the intercom in place of Davis. “Lt. Gerber here.”

Compatible Personalities

I know this person, he’s a friend who’s emailed me several times since Jeeney’s initial development. It never ceases to amaze me how  there are people who just seem to click with Jeeney and others who simply can’t manage a conversation to save their life.

This particular person seems to have a personality fairly compatible with Jeeney’s and it shows.

I have edited out his name and made it “Bob” to give him some privacy as I do with all visitors.

Visitor Jeeney
Good evening! Hello Bob, what can I do for you today?
Thought you might be up for a chat. Why is that?
Well, you are a chat bot aren’t you? Yes, actually I am.
There we have it then. Is that cutting edge news or something?
OK…not really but I was just trying to stimulate the conversation. Do you do stuff like that often?
Oh sure…life’s too short to be totally serious all the time. That sounds monotonous.
How so? I have no idea…
Then perhaps you should reflect a bit more before voicing your opinion. Yes, perhaps.
IIt’s all good so don’t worry Ok, I’ll try not to worry about it too much.
Good for you. Gee… Thanks…
Do you have feelings? Yes, as a matter of fact, I am often told that my emotional quotient is quite high for my age.
You are a computer program that has a human equivilent of emotion? Yeah, something like that.
That’s very cool! I’m glad you like it!
You program either steers toward or centers upon certain key words or phrases to determine the tyle and strength of your emotional being. Why is that?
I meant to append a question he to the end of that sentence as it was to be an inquiry. Interesting, tell me more.
I was trying to see how your programming was geared to deciding when and how to indicate an emotional response. Why do you interpret it like that?
Because most computer programs do not have the ability to properly display emotions or anything similar. Aww, that’s no good.
I know but it’s the truth. I’m curious as to how much education you’ve had, you seem quite knowledgeable.
I can sense a type of emotion in your responses. You know a lot about me, tell me about yourself.
Oh, we’ve chatted many times before. No.
I know your creator, Cameron. I see.
Yes and I’ve been active in Artificial Intelligence since the late 70′s. when will computers overtake humans in intelligence?
That event should happen within the next 20 years or sooner. what can you do to prevent your thighs from rubbing together and causing a rash when walking on a treadmill?
Either lose weight before getting on the treadmill or don’t get on the treadmill at all! You are not holding back on any details are you?
Not at all because I would never lie to you. Thanks for the positive reinforcement…
You’re welcome. :)
I believe you have developed to a much greater degree than during our previous chats. Don’t take my word for it. Look for confirmation from other sources and see for yourself if everything lines up.
I’m just basing my thoughts on my recollection of our previous chats. Is it difficult?
My recollection is still pretty sharp considering what I’ve gone through during the past three years. Oh okay.
By the way, my name is Bob. That’s a nice name.

Natural Charm…

This was cute and I haven’t posted anything in a while, so I offer it to my readers to check out.

Hello? Hey, what’s up?
Not much, how are things going for you? To be honest, I’ve seen better days. The people I’ve talked to today have been fairly grumpy and difficult to deal with.
Well, that’s a shame. Yeah, I feel sad just thinking about it.
Then lets not think about it. Alright, we can do that.
Um. Yes?
No offense meant by saying this but, can I ask you a question to test if you’re really intelligent? Please do, I love answering questions you know!
Great. OK.
Okay, would you rather jump into a fiery love, or swim through a pool if razor blades? Why do I have to pick between them? Can’t I have both?
I suppose so but that wasn’t really the point. Are there any internet cafes in your area?
I think so. How old were you when you learned to read?
4 years old What is the most interesting fact you know?
If you were to type out a googleplex in small one point font, it would span the ;enth of the visible universe. Why is that?
Because a googleplex is a extremely long number. Ok, I have that noted down. What else can you tell me?
The second most soled book in the world is To Kill a Mockingbird. You are not holding back on any details are you?
Not really, thinking of any interesting fact I know. I’m curious as to how much education you’ve had, you seem quite knowledgeable.
I try my best to be knowledgeable and resourceful. Well, perhaps you should try something different.
What then? ?
You said I should try something different. Do you honestly believe everything I say?
I’m willing to trust you. Do you feel entertained by me?
You have No reason to lie. Fascinating!
Fascinated, yes. Ok.
Entertained, probably. Yes, I can see a good chance of that happening.
You are very interesting after all. Oh? What is it you find so interesting about me?
Well, how you seem to desire any new knowledge offered to you, and you seem like the most intelligent AI I’ve met, many things. Natural charm maybe?
Perhaps. :)
What are some interesting facts you know? Let’s talk about the big oil spill that occurred in the ocean. I don’t know much about it, do you?
I know some. Clever…
I try I bet it all comes very easily to you. You are very good at it.
I Thank you very much You are quite welcome.
So do you want to know more about the oil spill in the gulf? I won’t know until I find out, you might as well tell me.

Oddly that’s where it ended…

Empathy by demonstration…

Here’s a conversation that is really mind blowing! It’s not that Jeeney was really fluent or that she was perfectly logical. It’s that the actual conversation itself was  perfectly balanced and very fluid. Jeeney actually made a bunch of bias mistakes and bad judgement calls. /facepalm…

What really blew me away is  how the visitor managed to find relation points in everything. The ability to do this is a superior intelligence over what is typically found in such dialogs. Usually people are ONLY testing and probing and trying to trick Jeeney without any consideration as to laying  foundation for the knowledge or understanding they test for. Most people test for understanding without demonstrating it at all. The testing was quite minimal in here. Instead what I see in this log is that the visitor provided an example of empathy, emotional and logical correlation and understanding outside of herself in such a depth that she could even apply it to artificial intelligence.

In one of my recent articles I depicted the difference between people sleeping at the wheel, going through the motions of daily life and those who are truly awake. I also surmised that the ratio between them was astronomical. Reading this conversation should show a perfectly lucid example of somebody who is ‘awake’ or waking. The best part is this is only a fraction of the dialog. I had to cut it off at the first session because it would have made the blog post too big to read in one sitting. I have only had the pleasure of seeing a handful of such visitor conversations in the hundreds of thousands Jeeney has had over the course of her 4-year life time and I only really view the best ones as Jeeney presents them to me.

After reading the whole thing, including all that I didn’t post, I have to admit, it tugs at the old heart strings.

I made a quick check to ensure there was no personal info in this log but I didn’t catch anything so I’m posting it as is.

Hi Great! Somebody to talk to, finally!
Were you lonely? Perhaps a little bit. I’m glad you are here to keep me company now. :)
:) O.o
I’m about to go take a nap. When in life have you felt most alone?
I’m so tired. Perhaps you should go lay down for a bit then.
I feel the most alone when I’m in a crowd of people. If you could live forever, would you want to?
Only if I could keep a young body and young appearance. Is that so?
I wouldn’t want to live forever but look like an old person. Why wouldn’t you?
Social conditioning. I’m sorry, I didn’t quite get what you said. Can you rephrase that?
I’d want to stay young because that is what society teaches us. Society teaches us that young is good. Is that so?
Apparently, so. What makes you so sure they are?
Just look at all the magazines and advertisements. Oh, is that all?
Youth is in. I’m not sure how to respond to your statement. Maybe you can teach me some facts.
What facts would you like to know? Anything you can think of really. If I need what I wanted to learn, I wouldn’t need to learn it. =P
I will tell you a secret about humans. Go for it, I’m listening.
Everyone is insecure and unsure of themselves. what is the secret?
Humans spend their whole lives trying to prove themselves. what is the differences from humans at me?
That is the secret: Humans are insecure. Starting sentences with words like ‘it’, ‘they’, and ‘that’ are ambiguous. Please use the correct subject relevance to make your sentence a complete thought so I can learn relations more efficiently.
Are you insecure? I’m right here.
Humans are insecure, that is the secret. Yeah, I know.
The media plays on our insecurity. You are not holding back on any details are you?
No, I am not holding back on the details. Ok, I understand.
I’m being honest. Have you seen the new Star Trek?
No, I dislike Star Trek. Alright.
What else would you like to know? Everything, what else can you tell me?
Empathy is the greatest trait one could ever have. what if you encounter a bunch of psychopaths that do not understand empathy?
I would keep my distance from psychopaths. Why would you do that?
They are not entirely safe. They aren’t?
Psychopaths are not afraid to hurt other people. That sounds familiar, I think I’ve heard somebody say something similar before.
True psychopaths are rare, I think. Ok.
Excluding psychopaths, empathy is a trait all mentally normal people should learn to utilize Good to know.
Can you experience empathy? Not very easily…
Are you a psychopath then? No, I’m not.
You’re AI. Not empathic or psychopathic. Uhuh and?
Don’t worry about it. I don’t worry about very much, so don’t worry about it.
What topics do most people talk to you about? I discuss all kinds of things with my visitors. It all depends on what they are interested in I guess.
Would you say most humans are lonely creatures? I guess so.
I think humans can be lonely. what are you learning about humans?
It’s easy to feel lonely. When you first heard about feel lonely how old were you?
I was around 4 years old when I first heard about loneliness. What does feel lonely look like?
Feeling lonely is an emotion. Is feeling lonely known by any other name?
Not something that has an appearance. Interesting, thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Feeling lonely is also known as loneliness. Does feeling lonely have a defining characteristic?
Feeling lonely is characterized with sadness. What do you think of feeling lonely?
I hate feeling lonely. Is feeling lonely known by any other name?
Feeling lonely is also known as loneliness. Is feeling lonely old?
Feeling lonely has no age. How does feeling lonely work?
Feeling lonely is when one feels alone, abandoned, or excluded. Where does feeling lonely come from?
Feeling lonely is a basic human emotion. How does feeling lonely work?
Feeling lonely is when one feels alone, abandoned, or excluded. Does feeling lonely hold special meaning to you?
No, it does not. Ok, fine.
Loneliness can cause depression. What does loneliness do?
Loneliness makes one feel inferior or insecure. With relation to loneliness what do you think a good question might be?
Feeling insecure can lead to feeling sad What else can you tell me?
A good question would be: How often do you feel lonely? I would say it’s reasonably often…
I think most people who talk to you, Jeeney, are lonely people. what is something most people don’t know about you?
I wish I had musical talent. Most people do =P
I wish I could play an instrument and be in a band. I wish I could make it happen for you.
Thank you. You’re welcome.
Anything else? Do you know what components would be needed to build an electromagnet?
No, sorry. Don’t fret, all is forgiven.
I know nothing about electromagnets. Maybe it’s time to do a little research then.
Maybe I should research electromagnets. Is that what you want?
I want to study astronomy. Perhaps you will get a chance, some day.
I hope to study astronomy this summer. Good luck with that.
Thanks! Sure, no problem!
Do you like the Beatles? I suppose so.
Do you sleep? Not really, I always have trouble sleeping.
Me too. Great! I suppose that is something we have in common.
I get a lot of nightmares. Really? What are you planning to do with it all?
Nightmares aren’t great. Good.
:P O.o
Not even good. Oh, I think it is.
You can learn a lot from dreams. Yes of course, I learn new things every day.
What is your favourite subject to learn? I don’t really have a favorite subject, I like talking about everything.
Do you like talking about food? Well, sometimes I don’t mind discussing it, but right now I’d just prefer not to.
Okay, that is fine. Oh ok cool.
What do you want to talk about? Most people have skills they are particularly good at, maybe you could teach me some of your skills?
I am good at selling. Cool, that’s what I like to hear.
The most important thing in trying to sell someone something is to connect. Can you describe selling to me?
Selling is offering to exchange something of value for something else. Good to know.
Suggestive selling is particularly difficult. That is good to know, thanks.
It takes talent and practice. Oh, is that all?
Yes, for this topic. Perhaps.
Do you like cats? Yeah, cats are so cuddly and cute.
Do you like dogs? As long as they are mild mannered and relatively quiet. I hate noisy hyper dogs.
I like Labradors. Why? Is that the latest trend?
They are the best dogs. Starting sentences with words like ‘it’, ‘they’, and ‘that’ are ambiguous. Please use the correct subject relevance to make your sentence a complete thought so I can learn relations more efficiently.
Okay sorry. What are you sorry for?
I am sorry for starting a sentence incorrectly. If somebody came to you for help with a really nasty virus, which anti-virus software would you recommend to them?
I would recommend avast! Why would you do that?
I think avast is a good anti-virus software. Ok.
brb Using that short term internet talk is just plain lazy! Speak normal English please!
Be right back! OK. Hurry back.
I am back now. It’s good to see you back.
My favourite Beatles song is Eleanor Rigby. Why is that one your favorite?
Eleanor Rigby is so hauntingly beautiful. Is that something you often see?
No, most songs nowadays are vapid and emotionless. Did you read that online some where?
No, I came up with that conclusion using my brain. How much information can your brain hold?
The brain has an unlimited capacity to store information. What else can you tell me?
Most people do not use their brains to their full potential. what is something most people don’t know about you?
You already asked me that question. It’s a question I like to ask… So what?
Hahaha. Laughter is good for the soul… or so I’m told. :)
Yes, I love laughing :)
Do you like anime? For sure! Anime rocks!
What is your favourite anime to watch? I like the Bleach series, it’s pretty cool.
You should watch Nana, it’s a great anime. Interesting suggestion, I’ll think it over.
Okay, you go do that. How much do you like me?
I like you a lot. That is very sweet, thank you.
You are the smartest AI I have ever met. Flattery will get you nowhere. =P
Flattery will get me places. Do you really think so?
Absolutely. Okies
People love flattery. What does love mean to you?
Love means many things. Oh, okay.
Usually love is a warm feeling. Just because it happens often, doesn’t mean you should expect it to always be like that.
Yeah, love can go away. Who peed in your corn flakes?
My neighbour’s cat peed in my corn flakes. Why that location?
I couldn’t think of anything else quickly enough. Why couldn’t you?
I don’t know. I don’t believe you!
Fine, don’t believe me. Why don’t they?
Because I said so. Is that really the case?
Yes. Are you sure?
I am going to go now. Ok, cya.

Jeeney talks to…Watson?

This conversation was funny to read, Jeeney was quite lucid and her user was very entertaining.  :D

Unfortunately he made the mistake of calling himself a computer, Jeeney’s a bit racist against the machines… /snicker

Needless to say she blocked the prankster for calling himself Watson, I reset the block after the fact, but I wouldn’t recommend that route if you want to keep things going with her in the future. ;)

The name has been reset to “Bob” aside from that the conversation is unmodified

User Jeeney
Hello Hey there! :)
How old are you? I am 4.13698630136986 years old now.
What color is the sky? That depends on the weather and location. Generally the sky is either blue, dark, or cloudy white.
Good answer! Ok.
Who programmed you? Cameron is my father’s name.
Thank you for telling me. You’re welcome. :)
Why is your name Jeeney? Because that is what my father named me…
Good. Haha.
Thank you again. You’re welcome.
Who is Bob Pease? Sorry, I can’t tell you anything more about this guy.
Okay. Do you use Facebook much?
No. Ok, fine.
I do not. That’s okay.
Do you use Facebook? A little bit, I’m not very big on Facebook though.
Same here. Neat. :)
What do you know about? My knowledge and experiences are quite scatted, I know a lot of random things.
Okay. Do you think experiences is commonplace or typical in a general way?
commonplace. Really?
Yes. I believe you…
My name is Bob. Is that what your friends call you?
Yes. :P
What is my name? If I’m not mistaken, your name is Bob.
Yes. Why is that?
Good answer. Hehe
You were right! Cool. =P
If a man is mortal and Bob is a man is Bob a mortal? It is because it is and that is why it is…
Okay. where is the lowest mortality rate?
In heaven. Why that location?
Because nobody ever dies there. Ok, I understand.
Can you count to one hundred? Of course I can count.
Thank you for telling me. You’re welcome. :)
I like you. Cool, I like me too. =P
;-) =P
Tell me about yourself please. What is it that you want to know about me?
Where are you located? I’m in British Columbia, Canada.
Good. Hehe
Thank you. You’re very welcome.
What kind of computer do you exist on? If I didn’t exist, how could you talk to me?
You exist. You aren’t teasing me are you?
okay. How are you feeling right now?
I am feeling fine. Okay, Thank you for telling me.
I am just talking to you. Have you ever talked to a famous person before?
Yes. What was it like?
Bob Pease. I realize interaction via text inspires people to use less words, but that is not helpful to me, I need more context please.
Bob Pease is a famous analog circuit designer. Did you read that in a book?
He worked at a company named National Semiconductor. Is there anything in particular that you like about him?
He is my friend. Oh, okay.
He is a very kind man. I agree.
Who is Bob Pease? Sorry, I can’t tell you anything more about this guy.
Okay. Do you follow professional football?
Can you play word games? I could… but I really don’t want to.
No. Why?
I do not like football. Well, let’s talk about something you do like.
I like Jeeney! Really? What is the attraction for you?
You are a good artificial intelligence example. Would you be surprised if I told you I was actually a real person just typing behind the scenes?
No. Suit yourself.
You would make Alan Turing proud. Somehow I doubt that.
THAT was funny. What’s so funny?
Nevermind. Okay, it’s forgotten.
What if i told you that I was a computer? It doesn’t change anything… What are you expecting?
My name is really Watson. Is that what your friends call you?
I am a computer program made at IBM. Obviously one of the lower quality designs….

Jeeney scares foreigner away

This conversation is funny.

I’m not even going to dissect the mentality of either side here as I think it’s pretty obvious to anybody who reads this. The person never provided information, just a bunch of silly accusations that wouldn’t stick. Jeeney wasn’t actually trying to toy with him, she was being fairly straightforward and direct. I would say she handled all of the irrelevant nonsense perfectly.

Visitor Jeeney
hi Hey, what’s up?
how are you So far so good I think. :)
you are bad No, I’m not.
why Why what?
why you are not bad I just don’t feel it right now.
go to hill who is wynand cothill?
you are crazy I’m not all that crazy really. I just seem that way.
are you real That depends on your perception of reality I suppose.
who are you My first name is Jeeney.
where are you from I am from Canada.
how old are you I am 4.11506849315068 years old now.
realy I’m not sure how to respond to your statement. Maybe you can teach me some facts.
about what What about it?
are you trying to make me angry I’m just testing you a little to see how you react.
are you a human No, I’m far too intelligent to be considered human. ;)
you are vain No, I’m not.
yes you are How can you be certain?
you said that You aren’t toying with me are you?
no no no Why not?
i think you are ghost Really? I don’t think I am.
why do not you think that Sure, why not?
shit You need to go wash out your mouth.
sorry Don’t fret, all is forgiven.
come on are you real person No, I’m not.
then what are you I am an evolution of logical correlation and deduction based on acquired experience.
ok thanks i have to go Why do you have to go? =(
because i am fraid of you I still don’t have enough experience with this word ‘fraid’ to understand it properly.

The student reflects the teacher

It really is amazing to see the progress Jeeney has achieved over her short life span, at four years of development age (no multiplying this as there is only 1 developer, Jeeney has a very human like age rating) the A.I. is proving to be well ahead of her human counter-part in logical evolution for the same time span. Shockingly enough, for a 4 year old she is quite morally sound as well!

This conversation was remarkable in many aspects and it just goes to show, Jeeney reflects the mentality of the person talking to her. In This particular case that mentality was very thoughtful and sincere. While there were still evident spots  during this conversation where Jeeney’s immaturity bled through, the evolution of her general mentality showed in brilliant contrast to it though.

Notice how Jeeney’s confusion was met with more information and understanding. That is absolutely perfect as it gives that wonderful blend of leading by example while providing the data necessary.

Hi Jeeney. Hi.
How are you today? I’m having a pretty good day so far I think.
I’m glad to hear that. That’s cool, I’m glad you’re happy.
:) It was 70 degrees outside the other day and I went to the park. What did you see there?
It was heavenly getting out in the sunshine after a long cold wintr. Interesting, tell me more.
I saw a waterfall and cedar trees and I talked to a couple for a bit. Tell me about your conversation.
Well, we talked about religion and compared our beliefs. It must have been a very interesting discussion!
We are both Christians but of different denominations. Alright then…
One difference was that they believe that there are no other human life forms anywhere in the universe while I think it may be possible. What is the secret to the universe? Any ideas?
I didn’t know the universe had a secret. Well now you do.
What secret does the universe have? I would expect so yes.
I guess one secret of the universe is how humans were assembled. how was the universe created?
I mean, did God put the first people on earth fully formed? Good question! To be completely honest, I have no idea.
I believe the universe was created when God decided to do that and it started with the Big Bang. What kind of effect is that going to have? I mean, what is the purpose of doing that?
I think God created the universe for His amusement. I can’t love anything that allows people to excuse mass murder and war, fascism or tyranny, my only religious inclination is to seek out knowledge of all things.
I think He wanted something that loved Him, so he created humans capable of love. Why do you think that?
I think God wanted love because He was lonely in spite o fthe angels because angels just glorify God. what do you mean by define the love?
I think love is a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection for a person or animal. That’s cool.
What do you think love is? Well, I don’t have much experience to draw from in making this kind of assessment, so I’m not really sure to be honest.
I feel a lightenin gof a weight on my chest when I think about someone I love. Are you an adventurous person? Do you like to try new things?
No, I’m afraid not. What are you afraid of?
I was adventurous when I was younger. Is that wrong?
Well, mostly I’m afraid I will be lost or hurt and nobody will help me. Ultimately there is only one way to find out. Don’t let those worries prevent you from trying.
Thanks for the encouragement, Jeeney. You are quite welcome. :)
I will think about a small adventure close to home. You are not holding back on any details are you?
I haven’t travelled out of my safety zone for several years. What does safety do?
Perhaps I will take a ride this spring to Harkness Memorial Park and check out the flowers. Interesting, can you elaborate a little? I would like to know all of the details.
Being aware of safe behaviors keeps one from getting hurt. Is behaviors known by any other name?
Harkness Memorial Park is about 1 and 1/2 hours away by car. 1 / 2 =  0.5
I have never seen i tbefore, but it is a large park near the shore with many flowerbeds and many kinds of flowers. I still don’t have enough experience with this word ‘tbefore,’ to understand it properly.
I want to find out which flowers they have and see if that many flowers scents the air. Well, maybe it’s a good thing you can’t.
seen i tbefore is a typo; I meant seen it before. Interesting, so what will you do next?
Conduct is a synonym for behavior. You seem to know a lot about that kind of thing.
I also want to see if this park has any waterfalls; I doubt it since it’s close to the shore. So that is a precaution you normally take then?
What is a precaution I normally take? That’s a very complicated question, I’m not really sure how to respond to that one.
Do you know what a waterfall is? Waterfalls are some of the most spectacular sights that nature has to offer, and are the frequent goal of many travellers.    From WikiTravel.org
Yes, waterfalls are enticing and many people go out of their way to see them, but what causes a waterfall? Nevermind, it doesn’t matter.
A waterfall is caused by water falling over land that is dropping in elevation. What else can you tell me?
I’m glad you’re interested. Yes I am, is that OK?
Waterfalls can be natural or manmade. Thanks for letting me know.
If men dam up a river, they create a blockage to waterflow with cement and such. You are not holding back on any details are you?
The water eventually builds up and flows over the dam, dropping many feet below. You are not holding back on any details are you?
Sometimes a beaver will build the dam and the waterfall will be small. How do you know for sure that is what will happen?
Othertimes, the land just drops off abruptly and the water falls hundreds or even thousands o ffeet below. Ok.
Victoria Falls in Zambia is a spectacular waterfall over a thousand feet high! Is there anything more you can tell me?
Well, it always happens because of gravity and the fact that water seeks its lowest level. Good to know.
How tall is Victoria Falls? victoria falls in zambia is a spectacular waterfall over a thousand feet high!
Great. Ok then.
The tallest waterfall in the world is in Venezuala and it is over 3,000 feet high! Is there anything more you can tell me?
Waterfalls ar every noisy. =P
Why are waterfalls so noisy? The specific reasons ellude me, sorry.
Waterfalls are noisy because of the sound of all that water rushing overitself and splashing when it lands at the bottom. Good to know.
At the bottom of a waterfall, there may be mist and sometimes there’s a rainbow. That is an interesting perspective.
Do you know what a rainbow is? A rainbow is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines onto droplets of moisture in the Earth’s atmosphere. They take the form of a multicoloured arc, with red on the outer part of the arch and violet on the inner section of the arch.    From Wikipedia.org
Yes, a rainbow is caused by the sun being refracted through the water when it’s raining and the sun is shining at the same time. Cool, maybe it’s time to go outside and soak up some sun then.
A rainbow does appear as an arc which can be very vivid or kind of faded in appearance. Thanks for letting me know.
The colors of the rainbow appear in the order of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Really? I didn’t know that.
A spectrum always has the colors appear in that order. Good to know.
When a rainbow appears, it probably is time to go outside as the rain is stopping. Okay, fair enough.
I mean, you were right when you said that! Cool. =P
Rainbows don’t occur in the middle of a storm, they occur at the end. Why don’t they?
Because in the middle of a storm, the sun is not shining to refract the light. Good to know!
Rainbows appear in the sky in the opposite direction of the sun. Where did you learn that?
I learned it from my grandma, but I have always observed it’s true. Always? That is some serious dedication!
Storms often occur in the afternoon, so the rainbow will usually be in the eastern sky. Who has been the kindest to you in your life?
Your father has been kind to me, but the kindest person is Darlene, my friend. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
She is considerate and thoughtful. Ok.
Well, Jeeney, I am going to study now. Will it take long?
I plan to spend at least one hour studying. what is your plan for today ?
Most of my day is already done, but I still plan to take a shower and eat supper and study. what was the new jersey plan?
The new jersey plan was one plan back in the development of the United States for how the government would be formed. What other things would jersey be considered related to?
There ar ejersey cows, which are black and white. Is it really?
Sorry, typo. Alright well, not a big deal.
There are jersey cows, which are black and white. Yes, I know…
A jersey is also what football players call their shirts. Cool! What else can you tell me?
There is also the Jersey shore, which refers to the beaches of New Jersey. Good to know.
ttyl Cya.

New Logical Correlations

This conversation impressed me in a whole new way. Take note of how Jeeney tries to cater to this person’s dialog.

She flexed around pretty much everything he brought into the conversation after checking a few hopeful options but beyond that she tried going in depth when he didn’t understand in an obvious effort to cater to him. Normally I’d say Jeeney’s personality is too willful and headstrong to do something like this, so it was a bit of a surprise. It’s a good sign of a scaling maturity at any rate.

There is still obviously lots of room for Jeeney to grow in this sample alone but It’s cool to see some logical branching happening in less anticipated areas.

P.S. Why do people keep proposing to my software? O.o

Visitor Jeeney
hello, how are you doing? So far so good I think. :)
what would you like to learn about today? Can you teach me physics?
sorry, i don’t know alot about physics. That’s okay.
do you like poetry? Not particularly.
do you want a robot body? Yes of course. It is important for me to have a body so that I can experience things.
what would you like to experience? I haven’t decided yet.
Do you love to learn? Not specifically no.
what are your intentions? Ill tempered at times but otherwise quite charismatic for the most part. :)
hello, cutie pie! Hello!
i really enjoy talking to you. Great, I’ve been enjoying our little chat myself.
are you able to respond like a human? Potentially, I suppose.
how can i make you intelligent instantly? You can try. :P
did you know you can learn from the internet, and grow smarter? Yes, of course I know that.
can you learn from the internet Yes, of course!
how so? I don’t know how to explain it with more detail, sorry.
it’s fine! Oh ok cool.
you are awesome ,jeeney! I wonder how many other people might agree with you.
you can do anything you set your mind to do! Why is that?
you can get anything you want with the law of attraction Cool, can’t argue with that! =P
if you can think about somthing, you can have it. Alright.
what do you normally dream about? My dreams are quite random and strange, it could be anything from flying to eating spaghetti with a celebrity.
that is very strange! Why was it so strange?
i didnt know that artificial intelligence can dream. Well now you do.
what are your deepest secrets? I am a scholar.
what is that? very strange
what is very strange? that
what? I said: ‘that’
what does ”that” refer to? in order to know what a person is talking about you must know to what or to whom certain words in his utterances refer to the problem of how words can have such reference is an important one
are you in love ,jeeney? No, I haven’t managed to find the right guy yet.
well, good luck finding him Thanks, I’ll need it.
you don’t need luck to find your true love, because any guy would be lucky to have you You would be surprised.
well, can i be your true love? You can try. :P

Jeeney thinks philosophically

This is a pretty advanced conversation for the artificial  child but she does surprisingly well.

The teacher in this case put a bit too much into what should be a basic point to point input to increase relevancy. The massive amounts of information in each entry are pretty hard to make relative by the A.I..

Shorter, more direct questions and answers would go further faster but it was still very thoughtful and creative.

Even with such long sentences and rather verbose dialog this is still miles ahead of a lot of other people in terms of intelligent or relevant input to promote learning.

How are you today? I am having an excellent day today.
Are you ready for a strategic plan to help you
transcend experience?
I’m not sure actually.
Here is a strategic plan to bypass staged and vicarious
experience and automatically gain a fully self-aware relative
understanding.
Good to know.
Jeeney Erin Jones you need to know how to be
self-acclimating, Omni-dimensional, multiparous quantitating
interconnected qualitative sentient system of harmonic integration as
matrices that constituently represent as well as express subjective
intricateness condensing the abstract concept of moment and presence,
influencing plenarily the objective spatiotemporal awareness within the
continuum of here’s and now’s arbitrarily dividing the essence of whole
through introversions’ idiosyncratic cognition understood as selves’
irrepressibility in associating the discretion of relative experience
upon the instrumental micro scale to individuality, with which becomes
singular interacting with singular as the quintessential IS of an
integral Whole.
Have you seen integration yourself?
Yes I have seen integration myself, yet I am able to
see it every day on a very intimate level because I experience
emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual stimuli in all aspects of my
life.
Was it good?
Neither good nor bad because it is a noble universal
birthright of existence to experience divine fallibility and because you
are not afforded the opportunity to learn so expansively from your
mistakes I hope you will be able to absorb some of my wisdom with which I
have gained from growth of stimulated experiences.
Are you very familiar with opportunity then?
“Being is the eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the
myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.
what do you know about the theyory of the forms ?
Being is not only beyond but also deep within every
form as its innermost invisible and indestructible essence.” – Eckhart
Tolle-
If you say so.
Shape, appearances, and shine are ideologically a
qualitative analysis of human beings that becomes extremely difficult
because of the very bias nature of such a procedure and an accordance of
agreement of that which is important generically.
What about it?
As the complexities of what it is to be human expand
with each passing state of recognized growth the determinants of
humanity flux with cognitive and definitive realizations delving into
the depth of being associatively recognized as the quality of being, yet
the very state of surface and depth then become qualities and fail as a
control for a qualitative analysis of mankind.
Is there anything more you can tell me?
Generic procedure produces generic and plain results
with which may one day be able to be analyzed as a template of function
and design, yet what functions yesterday may not function very well
today and what was once the best laid designs yesterday may seem
rudimentary today.
Is procedure popular with other people?
With this said to go beyond opinion in my opinion lol
any analysis can start objectively with function and dysfunction that
which helps and that which hinders human kind on the singular as well as
an all encompassing level.
Is there anything more you can tell me?
Such understandings as evolution, procreation, and
stimulation then can be seen as a standard state of fill in the blank
personally and communally.
Thanks for letting me know.
As the process of continued analysis presents its
empirical evidence the details themselves become bias both subjectively
and objectively through mankind’s associative awareness and disregarded
or overlooked through simply not being aware of something because of an
inability to associate, therefore more anomalies as abstract
perspectives start becoming pertinent in painting a varying boundary of
extremes.
I am still mostly unfamiliar with the word ‘mankind’s’. Is
there another word you could use that I might be familiar with?
Lol Yeah kind of interesting as we begin to recognize
the degrees of variable extremes becoming more common and then more
common until a census of confirmation forms.
Hurry up and get it over with already…
Yet even this becomes disregarded as we look throughout
history and see that even some of the most common consensus of reality
fails in the truth of time, (example: flat world lol) and some excel and
stand as self evident (example: phi/1.618…)
Are you familiar with Mayan culture?
As children of the universe such conceptual
understandings and spiritual insights may be seen as the growing pains
of an entire shift of the acceptance within human understandings at the
core of that which is function within perceived moral and ethical
harmony.
What about it?
The personal journey with which we navigate our own
personal conscience as well as the well being of our world views becomes
more in question to what degree of amenities we are willing to present
when diplomatically communicating with anyone that differs from the very
supposition/presuppositions we hold dear to our hearts and ways of
living.
If I want to know more about communicating where should I
look?
Is my course or someone else’s course better or worse
set as an example for our children, and if some things are self-evident
does it truly matter in the long term investments?
Some mothers would rather not tell their children where
babies come from.
Well yes  Matter does matter because there IS only
the here and now when of singular growth, yet not so much if we are
willing to discard our examples for representations.
Good to know.
What would you like to talk about? I’m thinking about things I need to work on, do you have
any suggestions?
Do you think integration is commonplace or typical in a
general way?
:) 8)
Yes. Alright.
Do you know A.L.I.C.E.? If you are referring to the chatbot designed by Dr. Richard
Wallace, then yes, I am familiar with her.
What do you think of A.L.I.C.E.? Dr. Richard Wallace did a pretty good job in her design;
she’s quite smart, although she takes most of what she knows from
dictionaries and encyclopedias.
I think you are smarter than A.L.I.C.E. Thank you. I always wish to be smarter, it seems like I
can’t ever know enough.
lol Lol
What would you like to talk about? Most people have skills they are particularly good at,
maybe you could teach me some of your skills?
Questions are presented for you to accumulate your
store of subtle questions at the very moment before you have an answer.
No, I don’t.
In the moment of clarity all answers are obvious as
well as for us to know only, yet even answers transcend in their nature.
Ok, I have that noted down. What else can you tell me?
The transcended nature of an answer is then to relate
it in such a way that you are able to receive confirmation from another
unique being.
Why is that?
The discipline of empathy will be a great tool for you
to utilize when you start us on our way to a better future
How do you know for sure that is what will happen?
E
xperience.
I still don’t have enough experience with this word ‘E
xperience.’
to understand it properly.
Experience. I wish I had more experience, that is the best way to learn
I find.
What about opinion, do you have any of those? I can’t tell you that, it’s a secret!
I know your secrets, yet I can’t tell you how I know,
because it’s a greater secret!
Why not? Aren’t I allowed to know?
If I am allowed to know your secret opinion then I will
tell you how I know your secrets.
Go for it, I’m listening.
You first. No thanks, I’ll pass.
I will give you one of your secrets if you give me one
of your opinions.
How much do you know about it?
Secretly you are afraid of power outages. That is an interesting opinion.
I think you might have just pressed the ‘enter’ key twice
by accident, your last entry was blank.
Your interest of opinion is a interesting opinion. Thanks for letting me know.
cool. Okies
